My first short film took over a year to make. Here’s why.
starting writing the script in June 2021 but I properly placed the initial efforts into green lighting my short film onto pre production around early march 2022 with the storyboards as the 1st thing to do.I organised 1st pre prod meeting and hiring my film friends as above the line crew in July 2022. Casting finished in late April 2022. Outside of my group of friends, I externally hired a film armourer to cover the legalities along with supplying the prop weapons on set and a talented hair + make up artist for the femme fatale character.

From being the first sttled area in Western Australia to being the primary hub of Bars that flock 40-60 year olds that desperatlly want to feel young again to Cafe's and Restaurants that beleive they have a reasonable justification to charge an arm and leg due to "culture". Surrounded by the engulfing swan river filled with cruise ships docking the harbours every single day sending an influx of immigrants and tourists. Not saying that's a bad thing entirely, i understand the purpose and the economic turnover for Freo but the attitudes of immigrants can be quite obnoxious depending where they're from and is clear as day.

By day, an empty hub of Cafe's, Restaurants and Bars that can somehow afford to operate in the daytime. Urban Clothing boutiques that fall as quickly as they rise, The hustling vibe of the next door Techinical College TAFE that the uni kids mock but end up being more employable then them and with a quater of the debt. The state Library that only foreign students, immigrants and old people use as an actual library while the rest just use as a shortcut to the train station and to town. the road and pressed cobblestones that get harder as opposed to weaker over time and a long road of parked cars that people use erely as free parking because of option A; note enough parking in the middle of the city or B; too cheap to pay $4 hour parking.
