Writing Hard or Hardly Writing?
I haven't managed to write very much in the last few months. I could blame work. I could blame my family or society. But maybe I am just being too much of a perfectionist. My inner critic has been a real bitch lately. I’ve been so worried about publishing something sub-par, I haven’t published anything at all save a few short poems.

A Trip to Maui
When I was a kid, we never went on a real vacation. What I mean is we never went to an exciting place with the sole purpose of unwinding and having fun. Sure, we took little one- or two-day trips to amusement parks all within driving distance. That’s alright, but we never made it to Disney World or anywhere tropical. I suppose it was because for the first eight years I was an only child and money was an issue. Then once my brother was born, it was just a hassle to wrangle two kids.

Total Eclipse of the Art
I attempted Judey Kalchik's 60 Second Storytelling Challenge and boy, was it! My first idea was a crazy ‘Burning Man’ type festival thrown in honor of the eclipse. It would read like Bill Hader's 'Stefon' bit on SNL, a crazy list of bizarre attractions.
