In 1961 the town of Tarzana, California pulled a book off of the city library shelves as it was deemed unsuitable for children. The offense was clear: the story, one of a group of adventures, featured a couple clearly living in sin: Tarzan and Jane.

We started playing as a way to find our own feet, to learn to talk, to imitate our parents and siblings, as a way to hone our skills, to get in shape, to while away extra time, to reduce our stress.

The Papal Announcement
Over 60 years ago my mother had a miscarriage. It was her third pregnancy in as many years. She lost a lot of blood and required a transfusion. She got hepatitis from the blood transfusion. The disease ruined her liver. She died when I was just over 3 years old.
