Recovery is Anything But

Before I knew what trans was, let alone that I was trans, you could easily say that I was a Daddy’s Girl. Except for one small fact- I didn’t consider myself someone who HAD a dad until after I lost him.

*For the privacy of the school, staff, students, and program itself, I’m going to leave the region/town names in which I live/work out of these pieces. Despite now living in the largest town in the academy region, it is still a small region with even smaller towns. If I gave even one piece of information, many other things could be uncovered, and I don’t wish to risk the privacy and breach trust of anyone I work alongside. Seeing with your Bad Eye
Have you ever gone to the eye doctor to get your eyes checked, and needed some sort of corrective lenses? Is one eye worse than the other, even by a small fraction, technically speaking? Before obtaining these glasses or contacts, did you ever put more of your focus on your good eye, maybe even closing the ‘bad’ one, or covering it up with your hand in order to perform some daily tasks or see something small and maybe far away?

Drudging through Depression
Whenever I see articles or self care tips of “just go outside,” “take a shower,” “clean anything,” or something else to that effect when in a depressive slump, it just makes me feel worse. Do you know how much energy those tasks take? How much I have to force myself to do these things, only to feel worse by the end of it? Even the thought is exhausting.

When I first applied to be an English teaching assistant outside of my home country, it was before the pandemic appeared on a global scale. Mid-January 2020, there were barely whispers of sickness spreading in Japan. Who could have possibly imagined it would have such a grave, continuous impact on the entire globe?

Trans Before, Trans After. Top Story - February 2021.
Everyone in this world eventually kicks the final bucket. This is a fact of life. It's unavoidable. Guaranteed. However, it's the unfortunate truth that many LGBT+ folx, particularly those who are transgender, often die much younger than their cisgender and/or hetero-normative counterparts. There are many reasons for this particular fact of life, but every single one of them is just as tragic as the next.
