Chapter 1: The Rift in Time In the year 2074, technology had become the fabric of human existence. Nanobots were woven into people’s bloodstreams to monitor health, AI algorithms were responsible for everything from city management to personal choices, and cities had risen above the clouds, their shimmering spires an emblem of human achievement. Yet beneath the surface of this futuristic utopia, society was fracturing. Climate change had ravaged Earth’s ecosystems, and resources were growing scarce. Technology that once held the promise of salvation now threatened to hasten humanity’s downfall.
