John Leech provided the illustrations for the work. As told in A Christmas Carol, the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man, includes visits from the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, and the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future. Scrooge becomes a more compassionate and kind man as a result of their visit.
