A poem by Thandi Wilson
Congratulations.
You survived the virus.
Unfortunately, this is not the end.
Please be advised: recovery has been delayed.
due to unforeseen circumstances,
including but not limited to
your immune system freelancing.
Common features may include:
– Exhaustion after strenuous activities, such as sitting
– Breathlessness while doing absolutely nothing
– A recurring quiz titled Anxiety or Lungs?
– Forgetting words you have known since childhood
You may look fine.
This is a known administrative error.
Medical tests may return “normal.”
This translates to, we are unsure how to proceed.
You are encouraged to pace yourself,
though instructions will be unclear
and you will do it wrong anyway.
Well-meaning individuals may recommend.
lemon, ginger, and turmeric.
Please note:
This is not a cure.
This is a beverage.
Energy levels may fluctuate.
without notice, warning, or logic.
Any attempt to plan ahead.
may result in immediate cancellation.
There is no official timeline,
no reliable treatment,
and no prize for endurance,
though you deserve one.
Thank you for your patience.
We are also waiting.
