A Nightcafe Creation By The AUthor
Introduction
This was suggested by Calvin London. This will run til the last day of November, and five random dollar tips will be awarded to five random Catena Rondo poems that are posted in the comments with a link to this piece in your poem.
The challenge is simply to write a Catena Rondo
This is the form:
Here's how to write a catena rondo:
- The poem is comprised of a variable number of quatrains
- Each quatrain has a rhyme pattern of AbbA
- The first line of each quatrain is also the final line of the quatrain
- The second line of each quatrain is the first line of the next quatrain
- The final quatrain should repeat the first quatrain word for word
Some examples:
The music is "Blue Rondo Γ la Turk" by Dave Brubeck, a favourite of mine with the "Rondo" connection.
This is now closed. These are the four entries that we got for the dollar tip.

Thank you for the tip, appreciated as always!
Hey! Here is my first ever Catena Rondo. It somehow just started flowing in this direction, and I ended up connecting it with another challenge. If you donβt accept entries that are also submitted elsewhere, please consider this comment just a thank-you for introducing me to this form. I really enjoyed working on it! π https://todaysurvey.life/poets/harvested-moments-with-granny%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
I have to confess I am not a fan of rhyming poetry, and this was a difficult challenge, but I do enjoy learning new things! https://todaysurvey.life/poets/kippers-and-castle-keys%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">

This is very interesting, Mike! I was not familiar with the Catena Rondo form. I read Calvin's CR poem and liked it very much. I might try this form myself. :)
HI Mike, Here is my effort: https://todaysurvey.life/poets/i-should-have-been-a-lighthouse-keeper%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E It was fun thanks to picking it up as a challenge.
This would make a great assignment for a college Poetry course. Good job.
