The Goode Family

a review

The Goode Family is one of my favorite cartoons for adults. It was created by Mike Judge, the creator of Beavis and Butthead. It was about a vegan, hippie, politically correct and environmentally correct family named The Good Family.

This show is perfect for someone like me, the family represents my ideal. All of the spin offs of Mike Judge are successes. The Goode Family was only on for one season, it is a shame that it did not last, but it was too intelligent to last.

For example, with Hank Hill on King of the Hill it was Tom Anderson with the voice of Mike Judge. As was the hippie teacher David Van Driessen who would be brought back Gerald Goode on this show. Gerald Goode is also a teacher in college as well as the college administrator.

His wife Helen is an activist in the community, his daughter Bliss only wants to go to the university in another city. Ubuntu, the son is adopted. All he wants to do is drive a car but first get his license.

The show is about in their world of political correctness and like minded people in their world as well other characters who are not of their world.

Recycling, animal rights, going to whole foods but in their world it is called "ONE Earth" i wish i was in their world. Another show that was on ABC that was much like that of The Goode Family was Dharma and Greg and that was another show that was politically correct and had it all and another show that appealed to my inner ideal.

The supporting characters that were not of their world was Helen's father charlie who was totally politically incorrect and set in his way. Ray -the black dude who lives next door(a regular guy who lived next door), Moe and Trish-the white lesbian couple that the family knows because their son was going out with Bliss for a little while.

Believe it or not there are morals and lessons about life to be learned and also how to be a good person and care for your fellow man and your fellow man in animal form. It is also cool to say that there are morals from the great Mike Judge who had created Beavis and Butthead.

The Goode Family are vegan and because of that there is a running joke that Che their vegan four legged family member is too but terrorizes the neighborhood killing and eating the animals it is a sick and disturbing side joke to say the least but that is just my own personal opinion.

There is comfort food but for me this is a comfort show and this show is a television safe space to the snowflake that lives in me. All walks of life and points of view are represented within this show. Diversity does matter and all people matter not just one group but all groups. The Goode Family is actually a good show and not just the name of the show.

The Goode Family though they are a fictional family on an adult cartoon do stay true to their beliefs, convictions, and they remain true to their morals as well. I can not say enough good about this one of a kind and wonderful show that came along once but went off of the air and was canceled as quick as it had been given the green light to last for at least one season and one season on the air is better then never getting the chance and the opportunity to be.
