Two Bus Tickets Part 1
The First Prequel
Author's Note: This is the first prequel to my previously published story. You can find that here:
This is one of two prequels. The original story is part 3. There will be a part 4, continuing the original story.
Jeremy wasn’t excited to move to the country with his parents. He was in a gap year before college, and couldn’t afford to live on his own, so he really had no choice but to move with them.
His father offered to pay him to work around the hobby farm they moved to. He figured he could suck it up for the spring and summer, and bank much of that money. His plan was to go back to the city for college in the fall.
It wasn’t all bad for him. In spring he plowed the fields and helped deliver a baby goat.
One day in late spring, the farm purchased some chickens from the farm up the road. Jeremy was on the porch when he saw a truck coming down the dirt drive. He stood up just as the truck pulled up. The man that stepped out of the truck was very attractive, but the kind of guy that doesn’t realize how attractive he was. He extended a hand, they shook hands.
“Hey I’m Colt. My family owns the farm up the road. I have the chickens your dad bought,” Colt said.
“Great! They are going in the barn for now, we still aren’t finished with the chicken coup.” Jeremy replied.
Jeremy felt a spark when they shook hands. It was a long handshake too, which gave him pause.
They unloaded the crates with the chickens, and stood by Colt’s truck. Colt looked at Jeremy, and let out a smile. Jeremy smiled back.
“Hey, I know you are new here. There isn’t much to do in the village. We should hang out sometime,” Colt said.
“I would like that” replied Jeremy.
Colt got in his truck and drove back down that dirt road.
Jeremy smiled as he drove away.

Love the quiet spark between Jeremy & Colt something about that handshake feels like the start of more than just a summer friendship. Can't wait to see where this leads!

Butterflies & flights of fancy taking over, beginning to whelm.
Good story 🏆✍️📕😊
I like how you set up this prequel. The characters seem interesting. I wonder how Jeremy's feelings for Colt will develop. And will the chicken coop be ready in time? Also, how will Jeremy's plan to go back to the city for college pan out?
