After the party I...
woke up in Wonderland
with an eat me sign
stuck to my shoulder blade
cuddled next to a capricorn
grinning like a Cheshire Cat
who in his fashion disappeared
but not before handin' me
a ticket to Tahiti and kissin'
me on my inner thigh
sighing, I was beckoned to
the balcony by the caterpillar
who enjoyed sharing his knowledge
as long as you put in on it, man.
and maybe I was paranoid but
he blabbered bout some broad
named Alicefor so long
I obtained a bangin in my head.
The white rabbit was more than late, he was dead,
and the Hatter, well, he has snatched the sign off
my shoulder with scorn, asked me how I
was gonna hide the bunny's body.
I was confused because all I did was was have
a little too much Hennessey with a Capricorn
now I'm duckin' a felony with an insane insolent
that totals tea.
The Caterpillar blew from the balcony...
"True, but let's make rabbit stew.
I dunno about you, but, um,
Wonderland was wonderful
but I had my fill and the party was over...
I thought y'all didn't like the beat?
No seriously, the party was over.
And no amount of red leather pant wearin
R&B singers could persuade me
into playin' croquet.
The Capricorn appeared by the L
And called for me to come that way.
And I almost went, until I saw Alice
sittin on the corner
playin three card mali with the Dodo
who for all "intensive purposes"
just wanted to "conversate".
So I handed Alice a dollar and the Dodo a coupon
For Gino's Steaks where he could get
Three seven inches and a two-liter
For twelve ninety-nine plus tax
He ate that up.
Alice pointed to the notes floating in the air
and the March hare winked at me as I put
My foot on the treble clef and wandered
into the song of a Cancer.
Each lyric loved me the way I only
imagined in the land of wonder and I...
Never had to wonder, never had to want
Never had to ask.
I was entranced bu the Cancer's song and on skyscraper rooftops we danced,
While tuxedo clad fellows straddled cellos and Alice changed into yellow scarves to play the harp.
And we danced and swayed
And the day had more sunshine
And the night had more stars.
Venus and Mars came into agreement,
The Earth tilted just a little to the left on it's axis.
And we laughed as we waltzed in bliss.
And there's no way in hell Tahiti is as warm as this,
So I took the ticket out of pocket
and I let it flutter into the
Chicago wind.
