I watched in guilt as the fire burned;

I still feel the deepest sadness in my heart today,

The flames took you away,

Sadness still surrounds me,

You still burn in my heart,

Brighter than any flame I've ever known.

    I just read a comment below and I now see that you wrote it about an ex-girlfriend you had. I am sorry I just wasn't sure. It is a little sad though, but beautifully written.

    I don't believe in writing nice poem or something like that. I am not sure if you were talking about your fondness for Elvis Presley or another lost love. I am sorry, I read it three times, but I just am not sure Carol.

    I am thinking of a permanent ending of life in this poem, so sad - powerful piece!

    Short, powerful, and packed with emotion. That last line hits deep—love and loss wrapped in fire.
