Introduction
A sonnet, I think you know what it's about.
The song is "They Murdered The Clown" by Graham Parker, it's in my top ten songs of all time, and I identify with a lot of the words.
You Gotta Smile
๐๐๐๐คก๐๐๐
I Will Always Wear This Smile
To Show Folk That I'm Alright
We'll Share Coffee, Talk Awhile
To Our Mutual Delight
๐๐คก๐
My Smiling Mask Hides My Tears
Obscuring My Broken Heart
My Wounds Can Never Appear
If They Do, I'll Fall Apart
๐๐คก๐
I Must Smile And Keep Silent
As Right Horrid Cheats Are Praised
On My Face, A Happy Grin
As I Am Pushed Back Again
๐๐คก๐
I'll Smile In Adversity
I'll Succeed, Believe You Me

Well said, Mike. Great entry.
I love how the poem captures the contrast between the smile we show and the pain we hide. So simple, yet so powerful.
Another good one.
Smile and the world smiles with you. Good job, Mr.Mike.
Nice one, Mike! Similar in meaning to the one I just posted, and as it happens, it's also a sonnet.
We all wear this mask at one point or another. Another great sonnet that speaks a universal truth, Mike. Well done, and good luck on the Challenge.
toxic positivity comes for us all. Great poem, and the picture got me, as soon as I clicked in. LOL
Such a brutal, transparent truth, with just enough hope in the end. Great sonnet, Mike
