I know and understand why you're crying over there

With scratches on your knees and your hair making a mess

I can see you are afraid 'cause of all the people's glare

After all, this truly is complete chaos and distress.

But your mom is now with you, holding hands with so much love

I can tell you will be fine; if you wait 'til you get home

This will be another story, maybe written from above

And again, I feel sorry that you lost your ice cream cone.

*

Me? I'm still clipped by the car after pushing you off the road

Barely feeling any pain as my last breaths try to stay

"It Was Worth It", I lowly say, as I give my final thought:

I would do it all the same, any time, any day.

About the Creator

Alex Torres

Started writing short stories back in 1988 at work, when I had an empty page to fill for the employee's internal magazine. Taking the pen again after a 30 year-long hiatus, exploring where it takes me this time.
