Will You Hold Me

Verse One
Will you hold me when my wings won’t fly,
When the sky that once welcomed me turns unfamiliar,
When the air feels too heavy to lift me,
And the strength I trusted slips through my hands.
I have carried myself for so long
That I forgot what it feels like
To lean into another heartbeat
And let it steady my own.
Verse Two
Will you stay close when the world grows quiet,
When the stories I used to tell myself fall apart,
When the old courage doesn’t rise on command.
I am not broken—only tired,
Only human in a way I rarely admit,
Only longing for a place to rest
Without needing to pretend I’m unshaken.
Chorus
Hold me in the way that doesn’t fix or rescue,
In the way that simply says,
“I’m here. You don’t have to rise right now.”
Let your presence be the ground beneath me
Until my breath remembers its rhythm
And my wings remember their purpose.
Verse Three
I have flown through storms with a steady face,
Carried light for others when mine was fading,
Held myself together with quiet discipline.
But tonight the sky is too wide,
And the silence inside me is louder than thunder.
I need a place where I can unravel
Without losing myself.
Bridge
If I fall into the dark,
Promise you won’t mistake it for defeat.
Every winged thing rests in shadow
Before it rises again.
Let me lean into your warmth
Until the night softens
And the horizon opens its hands.
Final Chorus
Will you hold me when my wings won’t fly,
Not to lift me,
Not to teach me,
Not to change me—
Only to remind me
That I am not alone in the sky,
And that even grounded wings
Still belong to a creature made for light.
