When No One's Looking

Who are you afraid to be?

Who are you when no one is looking?

TV static airborne

Catatonic

Feet engraved in wood

Nostrils blind to roses

Phone call blocked

Sorry, busy as a reply

Who are you when no one is looking?

Mirror bends

Bones twisted

An eye for an eye

I've made this body sick

I've abandoned who never left me

Ear lobes bending sheetrock

Keep the tears in

Who are you when no one is watching?

Bible highlighted

Research paper pinned

Questions lingering

Lips bitten with chattering teeth

Who am I to question-

But,

Malleable mind

I must shape this

Hemisphere's strengthen

Earth's core rattling femurs

Backwards now nonexistent

Who are you when no one's looking?

Everything you're too afraid to be with eyes scanning your spine?

Everything you're too afraid to show with attention stinging your skin?

Something slippery and wicked?

Something dense and unmovable?
