We Do Not Want World War Three
The mothers stand at windows tonight, quiet, listening for distant thunder,
Not from the sky, but from men who move pieces across maps and oceans,
And every heart whispers the same small prayer, please let the world stay calm.
The old men remember smoke over cities, and boots along broken streets,
They remember letters that never came home, folded in silence and grief,
So they shake their heads slowly and say, we have buried enough sons.
Children sleep beneath soft blankets, dreaming of rivers, dogs, and summer grass,
They do not know the weight of sirens, nor the taste of fear in the dark,
Let them keep that gentle ignorance, it is a treasure the world must guard.
Leaders speak in proud voices, but pride has burned many fields before,
History sits beside them like a ghost, whispering warnings they often ignore,
Power is loud, but wisdom is quiet, and it asks for patience tonight.
The earth itself seems tired of war, tired of fire and broken ground,
Rivers have carried too many tears, winds have carried too many cries,
Even the stars above seem to ask, will mankind ever learn?
So let the hands that reach for buttons pause, and feel the beating world,
Let them remember the markets, the schools, the laughter in ordinary streets,
All the fragile beauty that disappears the moment a missile flies.
We do not want World War Three, not now, not ever, not again,
Let peace rise slowly like morning light across every waiting nation,
And let our children inherit a quieter earth than the one we feared. ๐๐๏ธโจ
