I am the ocean, waves still
When an old friend stays for too long
They never take the hint
The darkness of blood and flesh
In health and sickness
Pleas turn into on-hands-and-knees buckled over in a screeching winery
Help is for those who can perform the need for it
The skin peeling away from the constant dance looking for any sort of release
Red blotches from burning incessant heat
But I don’t want any of the thick congealing wine, I need the ocean back
I am the ocean, waves still
But…
What is more water to an ocean?
You cannot drown an ocean
Throw a bucket of water in and nothing happens
Even a gnashing all-consuming tsunami means nothing
in the middle of the vast ocean
But the ocean feels it
Melting icebergs sinking the seas
The ships desperately dragging themselves clenched knuckles, dirt in fingernails out from the waves but it is always six feet under
The horror of those you love getting used to your waterboarded cries
Tears soaking in and it all becomes one
I am the ocean, waves waiting still
