A poem about safety

Walls

clean and white and unblemished

Building walls

big and strong and impenetrable

Building walls around the truth

hides it from view

Keeps it in the dark

doesn’t make it stop existing

The truth kept in the closet never ceases being true

it’s simply the truth in the dark

-

Freedom comes

when the truth sees the light

Shine through the hole you broke in the wall

the hole you broke in the wall

-

Walled up is not safety

it’s hiding

You deserve a life without walls

open and free and yours

No boundaries or walls or or gospel

holding you back

From seeing the truth

-

walls make us no safer than those on the other side

Those we're trying to keep out

because at the end of the day

Whether you're on the inside or the outside

you'll end up staring

At a wall
