As a very green writer on Vocal, my perspective on the platform’s shortcomings is admittedly limited. That said, my four weeks on the site have felt like coming home—like finding my younger self hidden under a blanket fort, doing what she loves: writing.

I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to fall in love with words again. It’s a part of my identity I thought I’d lost to adulthood, buried in 5+ year-old Word documents that will never see the light of day. Thanks to Vocal, my stories are unraveling. This is a gift I intend to cherish.

That said, we must all band together and defeat Vocal’s Jabberwocky.

This is not the perfect world we want it to be.

But we’re all writing out of love for this site. Through this Challenge, we hope to raise awareness to help make Vocal better. We, the writers, deserve more, and the unchecked use of AI is not only undermining the quality of our work, but also discouraging our passion for storytelling!

So let’s all go a little Mad here, and bring back the magic of human creativity.
