I've been under for quite a while now,
drifting in the deep dark -
the cold of the endless silence
like a peaceful slumber.
Monotony can be nice
especially when it's so far below
away from the heat;
the blinding light.
But when I take a breath
and let the cold waters rush in,
I still watch the bubbles escape
up, up, and up;
far above this bottomless ocean,
and I wonder what it might be like
to see them reach the surface.
To see how their inner light might come to life
in the rippling waves of the sun;
how the dark might break away
and let those gasps of air
break the surface of the ocean
for the very first time.

Ahh freaking men to this: Monotony can be nice especially when it's so far below away from the heat; the blinding light.
There's something fishy about this one..., ...& I love it!
This was hauntingly beautiful—like holding your breath with hope. The imagery of rising bubbles and hidden light captures the quiet courage it takes to surface. A stunning reflection on emerging from darkness.
This felt so liberating and empowering! Loved your poem!
Beautiful!
