Tumbleweeds

Just riding the wind

all this shit

it’s getting old

my phone is silent

my heart is cold

-

my thoughts drift off

so does my soul

what straw did i draw

to wear this role

-

my days are empty

my nights too long

i don’t even like

my favourite song

-

my future’s cloudy

my past crystal clear

what the fuck did i do

and why am i here

-

i’m here because

there’s something here

something glowing

something near

-

something growing

through the pain

through the ruins

through the rain

-

through the embers

barely alive

fed by the depth

of a soft, slow breath

-

and the fire

eventually

remembers

-

i look out

from this chemical calm

everything

looks the same

-

i can’t yet look

directly within

that’s a whole

different game

-

so i’ll find

a lonely chord

sad

and dulcet-toned

-

i’ll play it

pick it

pluck it raw

till my fingers

burn and ache

-

till my arms

grow tired

then maybe

i’ll wait

-

for the wind

to rise again

cause that’s

what she does

-

and i’ll just stand

watching

the tumbleweeds

Sometimes life feels this way. Very relatable.
