Through The Trees
Submission for Mikeydred January Dollar Prompt, an unofficial challenge

A haiku will not suffice, describing my full moon view
One January evening stroll
In Fall River's historic charm
To stop. To pause. To peer through trees
Without her beloved leaves
Wolf Full Moon shone on me; a window without glass
Mystifying magnetic moon
Opened a portal, compelling me to step in
~
Not a wolf howled at me; it was my inner voice
My higher self, a friend, not foe
A friend I oft ignore
Championing me: Step up to the plate
Take life by its reins
No more sideline sitting
Watching doors swing shut
Sulk or survive; cosmic reset is my choice
~
Can't see the forest for the trees, yet I see the moon
A light chuckle, sigh, a near cry
Nippy air confirms what bites
Bitten me, wolf moon sinks in-
Reflect. Release. Renew
Beyond the surface masks I wear
New Eyes. New Doors. New Pack
Faith forward is my magick; lone casting of a rune
~
Author's note: Although cutting it kind of close, this is my entry in Mike's unofficial January Dollar Prompt.
I chose a photo I captured while observing the Wolf Full Moon earlier this month and thought of the viewing experience through barren trees, likened to a portal or door.
