There is a Deep Black Well
An abysmal nothingness
That swallows everything,
And causes silence to swell.
It eats delight and brightness.
Leaving only shadows that cling
To all thoughts that dwell.
Like webs in forgotten places
It builds, lingers, and expands
Corrupting hope and desire.
And all joy and pleasure it encases,
Until the Well alone fully commands.
Hidden in plain sight, an unseen quagmire,
So be vigilant if you find its traces.
Know that the Well can devour all
Unless one sets its darkness ablaze.
Light, Life, and Love will be your Haven;
And remember if into the abyss you fall
There is always a way out, no matter the haze
So into your heart and mind this truth engraven:
The Well has no claim if you anchor in Haven’s call.
