numb hands on shovel

a heat pack in my pocket—

life returns in me

This is my three line love letter to the little thermopad hand warmers that saved my life plenty of times while working outdoors during winter.

Hand warmers are a wonderful invention! (Although there aren't enough handwarmers in the world to have me outside shoveling snow 🥶) YIKES!

Gloves are my best friend in Winter; I’ve got secondary Raynaud’s Syndrome 😭😭. Winter is my most loathed season, ha ha! Brill Haiku flow.

Yes, why didn't I think of those for outside shoveling. Love the idea, small heat indeed.

The antithesis between your numb hands and the return of life was so lovely to express through the body. It made me think of the heat pack as a heartbeat, bringing life and warmth back to the hand. The way the first and last lines mirror each other creates a perfect frame for that internal heat. It feels like a resuscitation against the cold. Best of luck in the challenge, Imola. 🤗❤️

  • Oooo, I don't think we have that here but I would love to have those. Loved your Haiku!
