You grab your bow.
You drop your arrows into your leather quiver.
You sheath your knives on your belt.
Your heart races as you step outside.
You inhale the scent of the Earth.
Your boots crush the leaves as you walk on the path.
You suddenly hear a twig snap not too far away.
You raise your bow and turn toward the sound.
You catch a flash in the corner of your vision.
You pull back the string of your bow and release the arrow.
You hear an animal-like cry.
You walk in the direction of the sound and find a baby deer.
You kneel and see the arrow sticking out of its side.
You unsheathe your knife and slice its throat.
You watch as the blood spills on the ground and the light leaves its eyes.
You clean your knife and pick up the deer.
You walk back to the cabin and carve up the meat.
You sit in your wooden chair and wait to repeat the cycle.
