The Fastest Milk Man, He Is the Best
Delivered door to door

Cows Milking Haiku
Cows rise with the day
Warm breath in the waking yard
Pails fill, day begins.

The Fastest Milk Man, He Is the Best
The fastest milk man, he is the best,
With cheeks like summer loaves at rest.
He walks the lanes at break of day,
While quiet streets in silver lay.
His boots ring firm on cobbled stone,
A steady rhythm, deep and known.
The bottles chime within their crate,
Like gentle bells at every gate.
He hums a tune beneath his breath,
Of cows and fields and honest sweat.
His cart rolls slow, yet proud and wide,
With morningβs harvest at his side.
Children watch from window light,
Their laughter warm against the white.
He tips his cap with rosy grin,
And sets the shining bottles in.
Some mock his size, his rounded frame,
But none can match his faithful aim.
Through rain that falls and winds that press,
He brings his gift in steadiness.
For in his stride there lives a grace,
A kindness settled in his face.
The fastest milk man, strong and blessed,
Feeds every home, and is the best.

Very nice, Marie. I remember when the milkman came around in the morning, along with the paper boy and the garbage trucks. Is this a new format you are using out? A haiku and then a poem? I like it. It's kind of like a baby poem and a mumma poem π
