Misty air
Hung stagnant and sure
A sweltering mess
Holding down possibilities
And hampering the growth
Of dreams long awaited,
Turning strong leaves limp,
Drying the wells of knowledge
As minds wandered
Within the walls
Checking rooms
For refreshing thoughts
Memories of cooler days
And moments of
Spring’s revival-
Coldness was sought
A thought masquerading
As a viable need,
But with winter’s frost
Hearts desired the heat
Now looked at in disgust
To be human
Is to be incapable
Of accepting the current,
Always wanting what is next
But regretting the loss
Of what was,
Heartbreak and mind-ache-
The error of our ways.

I'm perfectly content with Autumn. I'd like to linger much longer in it.
I enjoyed reading this, especially the lines "Turning strong leaves limp, Drying the wells of knowledge." Beautiful work!
Yes indeed. Good to try to be in the moment. Nice poem!💙Anneliese
