Surprising Twist

It started off like any day,

I went to work, but wanted to play,

So I snuck out at lunch for some fun,

Little did I know what had begun.

I walked to the park and sat on a bench,

Enjoying the sun and silence, no stench,

Suddenly, a man appeared before my eyes,

He had a message that was quite a surprise.

He said he was from the future, a time yet to be,

And he had come to visit and set me free,

Free from the monotony of my life,

Free from the worries and the strife.

He offered me a chance to relive my past,

To make better choices, to make them last,

He said it wouldn't be easy, there'd be a cost,

But the payoff would be worth it, and not just lost.

So I took his hand, and closed my eyes,

And when I opened them, to my surprise,

I was back in time, a second chance,

But nothing was the same, it was not by chance.

I had a chance to make things right,

To take a different path, with new light,

And as I walked down the road less traveled,

I realized, the twist was that I was now unshackled.
