Summer remembrance

I remember the carefree days, when we were just out of the school's stressful maze.

The time finally came, after so much hard work we could end this cruel game.

Summer was on the verge waiting for our spirits to emerge.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

All we wanted was freedom, outside we had our little kingdom.

Unless we got hungry, we never left the beach willingly.

Through thick and thin we had each other's back, into trouble wasn't that hard to get.

Unlike many people we were grateful for every new day we lived.

Most of us might've thought we have been privileged.

No matter what we felt, we looked at life as a gift.

As with everything, summer has also come to an end.

Greatest memories of present slowly became forgotten past,

Although we turned into strangers, maybe it was for the best...

Interestingly we never wanted to grow old, yet the joyful days turned into dust and cold.

No one could've stopped that, God has given us days that are worth gold.

"everything seemed to be easier back then, but before you realize, ..."

Author's note: to get the final rhyme, read the first letter of each line. Probably this is one of the most complex poems, that I've written, and I'm so glad that I managed to work it out. Please leave your feedback if you liked it and maybe you can relate. :)

To all my subscribed creators and supporters: sorry for being unactive lately, this summer was about everything but relaxing for me. I tried to rest and prepare myself for the next schoolyear, but apparently it's not going as expected. I'm assuming that this year will be much harder for me to balance studying, training, writing and entertainment, but I'll try my best to arrange everything. Thank you for being here and supporting me! :)

To all the creators I'm subscribed: as I've mentioned in the last few weeks I wasn't the most supportive commenter for any of you. In the future I'll try to read more from you, and I'm sorry if I miss any of your stories, but because I have subscribed to a lot of you, it'd be impossible to read hundreds of stories daily... As far as I know I'll only be completely free for the weekends, so I can read the most under that part of the week. If you're still here, thank you for your understanding! :)
