Rota Fortunae

A Sonnet

How proximal we are to this old scene

Though our page in the book of time seems new

Still do we brook abuses most obscene

Of those much less like “I,” and more like “you”

The CEO and the exhausted intern

The penniless miner of lithium

And the app designer, clicking to earn;

Some score; others mop the gymnasium

Some explore space, while others slave for rent

Some own nations, while others beg for bread

One’s mansion overlooks another’s tent

One owns the street that is another’s bed

All are human, as mortal as a fly

Some know opulence; others must serve or die

Sonnet

Quite a disparity depicted! “One’s mansion overlooks another’s tent” was a powerful image!

A tale as old as time with a lot of great current imagery. Great job!

Wow , great work you done

  • This is a raw piece, it should be posted on big placards as a reminder to everyone to not take things for granted.. and to share what you have and be kind.

  • "One’s mansion overlooks another’s tent One owns the street that is another’s bed" Oh my, those lines hit to hard! Loved your poem!
