One of Those Days

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 4 months ago 2 min read

**(Verse 1)**

Woke up this morning, coffee’s on the brew,

Check the mirror, oh boy, it’s just me and you.

Got that bedhead, looking like a bird’s nest,

Same old routine, but I’m really not impressed.

**(Chorus)**

Do you ever have one of those days,

When you get on your own damn nerves?

Thinking, “Who’s this clown in my shoes?

And why’s he stealing all my curves?”

Can’t stand my own laugh, can’t take my own advice,

Oh, it’s a wild ride when you can’t roll the dice!

**(Verse 2)**

Scrolling my phone, every post makes me sigh,

“Why’d I eat that cake? Who’s the genius? Oh, right.”

Stuck in my own head, a real circus show,

Even my brain’s like, “Dude, can we go slow?”

**(Chorus)**

Do you ever have one of those days,

When you get on your own damn nerves?

Like a self-inflicted sitcom, no one’s laughing tonight,

And I can’t find the exit to this endless plight.

Can’t stand my own jokes, can’t trust my own plan,

Just me and my doubts, doing the best that we can!

**(Bridge)**

Friends keep asking, “You good? You alright?”

But I’m just in here, starting a one-man fight.

With my inner critic, making all the calls,

But hey, we all know, I’m the one who stalls!

**(Verse 3)**

So I’ll dance in my kitchen, with my favorite playlist,

Even if my dancing could be classed as a twist.

Laugh at myself, ‘cause it’s all I can do,

If you can’t beat ‘em… well, at least you can chew!

**(Chorus)**

Do you ever have one of those days,

When you get on your own damn nerves?

Like a sitcom rerun, I can’t hit the mute,

But I’ll laugh it off, put on my party boots!

Can’t stand my own brain, but it’s my favorite place,

So let’s toast to the flops, it’s a wild human race!

**(Outro)**

So here’s to the days when we just can’t cope,

We laugh at ourselves, and we keep up the hope.

Life’s a strange journey, filled with twists and turns,

And if it gets crazy, just dance while it burns!

Yeah, I get on my nerves, no doubt about that,

But I’m the star of this show, how ‘bout a good chat?

Haha! I loved, loved, loved this! I definetly relate to the one-man show and inner sitcom, um, slash drama series in my own head. Fabulous!
