I've been such an open book

but regrets and "what if"s

and " if I'd only known"

still kept in a hidden place

tempered by

"stay in the here and now"

I soothe my soul by

drowning in this song

in my own "Ocean"

the place where I learned

to breath without air

where I held a seashell

to my ear and heard

not the sound of the ocean

but the sound of

my heart beating

and I saw the color of you

a beautiful drowning

where a seashell lays

carefully tucked in

my heart.

    The way the seashell holds memory and feeling is just… wow, so relatable and so intimate. Sometimes the ocean we need most isn’t outside, but inside ourselves. ❀️
