Multiple Names in September
For Mikeydred's September Challenge
September playground teeter-totter days are dwindling as
Autumn brings the days for wanting kindling
Campfires with marshmallows browning, then
stuck to chocolate, smooshed between graham crackers
Kids will trade the slides and monkey bars and will pull sleds
or slosh through rain puddles and go early to bed
In dimly lit mornings off to school they trod, lunch box
in hand, an apple inside, soon traded for sweets
~~
September brings memories of horror and sorrow,
a day
that scars September.
September 11 is also known by a name that few know.
~~
Happy memories dwell in the rows of many colors, hardbound and soft cover books cuddled on library shelves, lined up in order by loving hands
Express your gratitude for their expertise and kind guidance throughout all your research. Visit the library.
Thank them for their assistance and suggestions, for listening, and for guiding our small ones.
Libraries are safe places, ethereal in atmosphere, mysterious, remarkable, enlightening, peaceful, and welcoming.
9/11 is well known, but, happier, it's also Libraries Remember Day on September 11.
Remember our libraries. Contemplate their role in cultivating reading and research. Support libraries and their well-established role in cherishing, archiving, and preserving history. Save the libraries and the treasures on their shelves, catalogued and preserved, then freely loaned.

So true about libraries! I wonder if they will ever be a thing of the past with the digital age bringing books and information to anyone anywhere. I certainly hope that is not the case. 💜
Touching on so many senses..superb. Congratulations!

Back to say congratulations on your Top Story ♥️🤗🎊🎉🎊
Such a good collection of great memories and thoughts, Andi!
Great memories of the Bookmobile and school libraries. The comforting smell of knowledge and excitement waiting for another explorer. Slides and monkey bars. And a nation coming together on September 11. Thanks for the good words.
Thank you for your informative poem! The horrors of 9/11 make us forget that September 11th can be/has been other things as well. It’s nice to see it as Libraries Remember Day as well as Patriot Day.
Some great poetry and pictures, and thank you for joining in
September 11 is just so devastating 🥺 Loved your poem!
Covering the breadth of emotions here! Lovely notes on the change of seasons and some of the dark memories it can bring
Lovely, Andrea <3
I like how this entry to mikeydreds challenge, was all about the senses. Boy could I taste those marshmallows. I like how it's like a goodbye to summer and spring and a hello to autumn. Where the kids will trade slides and monkey bars for pulling sleds. I like how you bring the events that have happened in the month of September too. 9/11 was a terrifying day. Deeply traumatizing for everyone. I like the nod to the libraries. We should be using it more. Thanking them for cherishing and archiving as well as preserving history. Nice work Andrea 🤗❤️
