Hey, it’s really nice to meet you and all of that
Just not in my bedroom wearing my hat.
I’ve been a believer more years than I can count
wanting to see you, just thinking I’d mount,
a campaign of sorts to make it real clear
That meeting an Alien, is nothing to fear.

Sure, we’ve freaked ourselves out with movies like Alien,
The Thing, The Blob, and others less salient.
But it wasn’t real hatred that created those stories,
The blood and the terror and everything gory,
We just didn’t know, didn’t bother to think,
That perhaps an Alien was a brother in sync,
With the dreams that we dream, the joys that we chase,
The passions, the trauma, the loss that we face.

We assumed we were better, the heroes, the best,
With the Aliens made villains, the worst of the rest.
So, let me just say, from a human who's longed for this meet
That sharing my Take-out has been a really great treat.

The Piggy Project
I’ve had so many names in this life I lose track of which ones were ever really mine and which ones I wore because someone needed me to. Some were handed to me before I had words to refuse them, before I knew what they meant, before I knew I could say no. Most weren’t meant to hurt. That doesn’t mean they didn’t leave marks. Marks that told me who I belong to, who I am by way of who claims me, recognizes me in the good and bad, who walks beside me.
