No one will know you
Unless you show them your heart
It’s safe–love again

I regularly write poetry, but I’ve never written a haiku — until today. “Love, Again” is my second attempt at haiku.
Haikus amaze me, and many poets inspire me with theirs. Yet, I didn't think I could be "to the point" with my poetry.
Maybe it’s being stuck inside due to flood-like rains, but today I sat down and made myself practice until I created two haikus.
Me counting syllables on my fingers was a laughable sight.
Sharing this, I recognize haikus symbolize what this poem is about — the thing we believe we cannot do—counting ourselves out, for fear, before we even begin.
Writing a haiku felt impossible. Two years ago, opening my heart to love also felt impossible. But I was wrong on both counts — thankfully.
