Just Us

A poem in 50 words despite it saying 56

"Do You Know?" - Image by author

We eschewed restaurants and flowers

for wooden cabins among mountains

rejected cards and jewelry

for hearth fires in the enduring winter

Just us

away from the crowds

and your eyes speak of

the spring to come

For this was our Valentines night

because what you are

will never happen again

love poems
