How to Feel Alone

Don't breathe,

Don't say a word.

Go subtly numb,

Don't ever be heard.

They'll forget your voice,

If you never use it.

Become the walls,

Become the air.

Fade into the black,

Become invisible through a stare.

Take a step forward,

Take a step back.

Hold your tongue,

Hold perfectly still.

Stare up at the sky,

Don't look them in the eye.

Lift yourself up,

Float away on the winds.

No ties or tethers,

A life now abscinds.

Take a breath,

Hold it.

Hold it tight,

Never let it go.

Because

To exhale

Is to live,

To be seen.

To make reality,

From a dream.
