I Remember When

I remember when… I remember when I entered your home and saw your shining face for the first time, I was struck with the lightning of love that I have heard so much about. A fire was started that would light my life with a raging fire, then smoldering embers, flickering and illuminating my life forever. There are stories and songs about love at first sight, but words fail to embody the beautiful truth which I experienced when we made eye contact for the first time.

I had entered your home, and now I’ve never left, with years of love growing deeper and truer, and I still look forward to hearing the melody of your voice each morning, and during my waking hours, I look forward to simply hearing your breath as you drift off into your sleep. Everything you do brings a sense of joy and peace that everyone seeks, and few find, and I count my blessings that I have found one of the great truths in life: love.

I remember when we met and fell in love from the first moment, I remember when we held each other and kissed. I remember the scent of your hair and the feeling of your hand in mine as we laughed and watched movies, knowing that your head would forever rest on my shoulder. Now I know that your glistening blue eyes would pierce me forever, like the effervescent stars shimmering in the milky way, twinkling in their eternal ballet.
