I Feel Obliged
a lost-ish poem
Today
I feel obliged
To put pen to paper
To poetically publish
To ornately orate
To lavishly lament
Stating my position
For history’s remission
Today
I feel obliged
To stand up
To stand out
To scream
To bellow from mountaintops
But
Mountains crumble
Ages wisdom
Forfeit
Instead, come cheers
As masters
Soar
Into orbit
Today
I feel obliged
To turn through pages
Enjoying tales of Arthur
And Aragorn
And hope…
Like a fool
An honest...
Fool
Today
I feel obliged
To hope…

Throne of the Beast
“Lock and load.” Knight One’s command echoed through his helmet, drowning out the helo’s thumping engines. Knight Two sat across from him, his mechanical gloves thumbing the safety on his oversized auto shotgun clad in etched black metal. Knight Four scoffed silently, his face obscured by the jet-black helmet. An uncivilized weapon for an uncivilized man. There are already enough of those in this godless world. Two always seemed unsettling, like a big frothing dog in a constant internal struggle of, “Should I bite or hump my master?” It was no wonder Callsign General loved Two, even if Callsign Archbishop barely tolerated him. One was the Archbishop's girl.

This feels.. familiar Matthew. Some days we’ll want to scream our frustration, others to just escape into fantasy. Nicely stated.
Sometimes that's how it feels
For me the word ‘obliged’ stands out. Once that happens I feel personal imagination or freedom disappears.
Ah this ever fluctuating feeling. Comes and goes. Occasionally lose motivation to write so I start reading more to gain it back 🤣
