Rooted but flowing

Coming and going

yet never quite knowing

where I’ll wash up

One thing that steadies

I taste it already

Sweet and heady

Never soon enough

When worry comes in waves

it’s this only that saves

When paths are unpaved

I reach for this shore

Calm in the wild

Peace like a child

I stay for awhile

I only crave more

A whisper in silence

Blues, pinks, and violets

on the back of my eyelids

as I bask in the glow

Floating and free

with nowhere to be

Nothing expected of me

Until I must go

When I’m drawn out

into the dark mouth

of the caves and the routes

are perilous ahead

I hold strong to my vessel

Deep down I nestle

Heading back to sea level

with every passing bed
