IN THE BEGINNING there was chaos. The World slept, until it awoke and wept, for it was scared of the dark.
In her kindness, the Night herself gifted the World a sphere of stars, filled each with fingerprints of history and great, grand stories.
The World cried with joy then, having never known kindness, such a treasured and precious thing. The stars, only infants, stretched as they slept. These five stars slept unbalanced in the sky, until at dusk, they fell.
Their dreams were great and grand too, only they held much more than just mere kindness. Their cores burned gently with pride, with love, with wrath, with cunning, with wisdom, until they began to collide, crumbling the sky with storms and screams so great they made the sun himself tremble.
The World knew these stars were growing; that this sphere meant that not only the sky would crack and quake. But the World could only listen, as its beautiful stars began to open their eyes.
This was when the Night returned, and with nimble fingers, she cast a veil of spider silk around the sphere the World clutched so gently.
This veil, the World realised, was a dream.
"A gift to your stars, my friend," said the Night. "It may dim their light, but it is only a dream." The Night assured the World.
"As they rest again, they will face more stories. Their own, even. Maybe they will learn something."

The opening scene to a D&D campaign I am considering writing, where the Greek Gods Zeus, Ares, Hermes, Athena and Aphrodite are kidnapped by Nyx the goddess of night, turned to mortals, and forced to work together in order to rediscover their true purpose as rulers and protectors of the mortal realms. Hecate acts as their guide, and this is the spell that begins their journey.
Can you tell I'm obsessed with Greek Mythology? Yes?! How did you know?
Thanks for reading and whatnot :D
