A lifetime of anticipation,
waiting for the opportune moment.
It arrived at last
in a form I never could have imagined.
As usual, no one's here to hug.
The usual colours are gone.
Everything is now black and white.
Monochromatic,
sad,
full of sand
from a past life
burying me completely.
My past life was simple, yet unattainable.
Now it's a struggle,
every second
intensified.
These tiny fragments
cut deep within.
Tears and anger intertwined,
yet they won't defeat me quickly.
I'll fight until my fingers bleed,
scraping the very ground beneath me.
Then I'll rise to the surface once more
to bask in sunlight, my sole hope.
