Dear Moon

An apology carried on lunar light

By FarhanPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

Tonight, I confess beneath your patient glow.

You’ve seen me before

walking in silence,

pretending that the quiet doesn’t ache.

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

You hang there, silver and steady,

while my heart trembles like the tide you pull.

I told everyone I was fine,

but you knew better

you always do.

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

I’ve hidden my fears behind laughter,

my dreams behind “maybe someday.”

I’ve loved and left,

not because I stopped caring,

but because I was afraid to be known completely.

You, of all things, know what it means

to shine only because of borrowed light.

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

I confess my envy, too

you never chase;

you simply rise,

and the world turns to see you.

I wish I could be that brave,

to glow without apology,

to wane and wax

without calling it failure.

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

Forgive me,

for treating my own light

like something temporary.

Teach me to linger in the sky

even when no one looks up.

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

If you hear this whisper

if you ever answer

send me back my courage,

washed in silver dust.

I promise next time,

I won’t hide behind the clouds.

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

Yours,

the one who finally looked up.
