Dear Moon

please watch out for me

Moon,

Sometimes I fear

there is no intelligent life here.

I used to think there were

others with whom I could relate,

but,

so many times, when we connect,

it is to agree on only one particular thing –

and then, if bonding happens further,

it is only to uncover all the ways in which we differ –

fiercely disagreeing

with a passion,

almost venom.

I’m tired of living here.

So, if you see other beings going by,

from other spaces or dimensions,

and you deem them agreeable, smart, kind, and wise…

could you ask them to drop by,

pay a visit, come commiserate with me?

Sometimes it’s lonely here, Moon.

I guess you know all about loneliness –

stuck there, by your lonesome,

since Eternity…

forced to watch us, in our insanity

fighting over petty things

which, to us, seem so big.

Perspective,

that’s what we need more of.

But, I’d be happy with just a friend

with whom I could really connect.

(I’m sure you would, too.)
