A poem

Looking back into my past,

I remember the good times,

and wish I could have made them last,

only now after they're gone,

do I realize to whom they belong.

I never thought of myself as normal,

I never thought of myself as good.

I only saw the darkness,

never the light,

and always seemed heartless.

Now this new dawn is breaking for me,

this is finally my chance to be,

the girl of my dreams, a true, new me!

For to those who have left me,

I wish I could find them to say I'm sorry.

I've learned my lesson, finally,

I've found my way,

now my inner star is shining brightly.

Looking up into the sky I wonder

if only you could see me now, Mother,

What would you think of me?

Would you be proud? Or disappointed in me?

I hope I can make amends,

I wish only to have enough time

to make up for my mistakes

before this hopeful time ends.

Looking forward into the future, I see

a tiny bright light that is me,

growing steadily lighter and brighter,

this is my shining star,

we all have one; it's who we truly are!
