Cleansing Soul with Nature

On learning to love the land I Immigrated to

Immigrant life, foreign soil

exotic flora and fauna,

but I wanted connection,

something genuine,

so, I can understand them,

and if needed,

raise awareness

of their plights.

Almost every weekend

religiously, I went hiking

to the woodlands,

noticing everything

mindfully, with curiosity,

changes with the seasons.

Learned the identify,

mutual interactions,

like a sacred pursuit.

Sitting on the ancient rocks,

under the shade

of cottonwood, sycamore

basking in the therapeutic smell of

willow, and sage,

listening to the birds,

feed from toyon, buckthorn

and wildlife in their habitat,

I spent glorious time.

In this process,

of nature worshipping,

I enriched my own life,

cleaned own soul.
