CIPHER

I am more than my words
and more than the skin
that tightly binds me in..
I am more than these pages
and lines that seek to defame me
in your eyes..
I am more than a popularity contest
and a hope that somewhere or somewhen
you stop to sip of good aged wine..
Still,
I am more than aged wine
but much less than whiskey
to am alcoholic mind..
I am more than Alpha and Omega
and less than a God
yet a continuation of end and beginning..
I am more than an offering
or a ridicule of pompous celebration
put down on passing lanes of parchment..
I am more than one man
and less than one woman
who creates life from something small as a seed..
I am more after ceding the battle to write
to please another
when the pleasure of writing is all mine..
I am less than a cipher
and even less
once I have paid the piper

DEMI
1/4/2026 When I wrote this I was searching for a title and I happened across this song by Demi Lovato and it spoke to how I feel when I write. It feels like I'm screaming into the void and none hear me. My words are taking forever to land but I am hoping light years from now, I will be famous (LOL). And people will look back and wonder what the author was thinking. Unintentionally, when I recite this verbally or in my head, if read as rap-it works best after the 7th line and after "persecutions" the last 8 lines read in contemplation-or read any way you like. I'm just the writer.
