Cold August mornings flicker under blue light

The steam rises to my ears, hips swaying back and forth

Melodies spinning black and white

You stand there, a hallucination

A wonderful, beautiful-

danger

Like a spider, you spin your webs around me

Not white but red

How did I think that you were the key?

The darkness that used to envelope me has now disappeared

Sombre souls lightened

Weird

As my mug touches my lips, memories flash

Dancing on Swanston Street, naked between the sheets

Crimson thickness causing a gnash

I swipe at invisible tears as they swell

Impossible laughs

No-one to listen, no-one to tell

Ares inflicts emotions within me

Fear of the unknown spiralling

As did the endless longing to be free

Down, down, down I twist

Up, up, up I miss

You simply give me a kiss

A hand curls its way around my waist, and I smirk

The echoes fade to black nothingness

Why did you lurk?

Hello, you

Janus has shown me the way

And now the sky changes back to blue

Temptation drove him away

The wild mystery gone

You, anew, are no Broadway

You have conjured a scheme to my true self

You have paired an Apple Blossom with an Aloe

And placed it on my shelf

love poems
