We Were No Longer In The 1900s - for Poppy's Prompt

This is for Poppy's Prompt which you can catch here
This week’s prompt: Write a poem about a specific day and make the title a date.
The music is "2000 Man" by Kiss
🕒⏰🕰️⌛🕰️⏰🕒
Twenty Three Fifty Nine And Fifty Nine Seconds
On December Thirty First Nineteen Ninety Nine
One Second More And Then One Millenium Ends
January First Two Thousand We're In New Time
🕰️⌛🕰️
In Just Two Seconds We Left The Nineteen Hundreds
And Now You Know That We Are In The Two Thousands
You Need To Put Two Thousand On Your Cheque Numbers
But You Know You'll Still Put Yesterday's Date, Damn, Damn
🕰️⌛🕰️
Such A Short Time, So Much Has Changed, Millenium Bug
The Figment Of The Scammers' Imagination
A New Year, A New Century, Slow As A Slug
And Fast As Light Into The New Millenium
🕰️⌛🕰️
So This Was Our First New Year's Day Celebration
As We All Came Into This New Millenium

Interesting take on Poppy’s Date prompt. I had a terrible start to the year 2000… my first baby, a black Labrador got spooked by the neighbour’s fireworks which he let off early at 10 pm. I had to search for my dog, after a sleepless night. I like KISS but have never heard this song before!😳🧐
This is so well done!
Very nicely done. The only problem is that the beginning of 2000 wasn't the end of the millennium, the end of 2000 was. The common era began with year 1 ce. There was no year 0. 2000 was the 2000th year of the common era, but it wasn't complete until it was over, as of 00:00:00 January 1, 2001.
Nicely done. Now, I need to check out that prompt. Sounds interesting.
Great entry, Mikey! I did not see the prompt either.
At first I was so confused because you said Poppy's Prompts but there were not vanilla, compass, mold, cobwebs. So I checked out the link to the prompt and realised I was unaware of it because it was in the group 😅 Anyway, loved your poem Mike!
